Equipment

  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Materials

  • Wrapped floral wire stems
  • Twine
  • Embellishments- ribbon florals, bells, buttons, anything you can think of really

Instructions

  • Shape the wire stem into a heart. Sculpt the wire into a simple heart outline, twisting the wire together to hold it together at either the point at the bottom of the heart or at the v at the top of the heart.
  • Tie the string to the heart wire form. Just knot the string onto the heart. It works best to tie the knot at the point or the v. Don't worry about the tail of the knot. You'll cover it as you wrap the heart.
  • Wrap the wire heart. Go back and forth around the heart, criss crossing the strings until the heart is covered. There's no real method or pattern, just keep going back and forth, until you have a solid heart. When you feel like your heart looks pretty covered, cut the twine, leaving enough room to tuck the tail into the twine heart. You can secure it with a bit of hot glue if desired but weaving it into the heart works too.
  • Embellish as desired. Decorate your heart with ribbon, lace, florals or whatever else you want, using hot glue to attach the decorations.
  • Make a loop for the heart to hang from. This is optional as these hearts could be shelf sitters, but I like to just tie a little twine through onto the top of the back of the heart so I can hang them on my wall or use to decorate a Valentine's Day tree.
