Pasta with Ham and Peas

Pasta with ham and peas is an American adaptation of a classic Italian recipe. Easy to make, this pasta will not fail to disappoint your family or friends.

Equipment

  • 1 Stock pot
  • 1 Garlic crusher You could also dice the garlic by hand if you prefer.
  • 1 Chef or similar knife Any sharp knife will work
  • 1 Tongs You could use a pasta spoon or other spoon to mix the noodles.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter divided
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 pound ham
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 16 ounces fettuccine
  • 1/2 c Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt and pepper This is to taste

Instructions

  • Boil the pasta according to the instructions on the package until just al dente.
    16 ounces fettuccine
  • While the pasta cooks, make the sauce.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • When the butter melts, add the garlic and stir it in until fragrant.
    6 cloves garlic, 4 tablespoons butter
  • Add the ham cubes to the hot skillet and saute for about 5 minutes to infuse the butter with ham flavor and get a little color on the ham.
    1 pound ham
  • Once the ham is warmed through, stir in the peas and cook until they are thawed.
    1 cup peas
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with the extra two tablespoons of butter.
    4 tablespoons butter
  • Toss the pasta with the ham and peas.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, continuing to toss the pasta until it is coated.
    1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • Finish by stirring in a half cup of parmesan cheese.
    1/2 c Parmesan cheese
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.
    1 teaspoon salt and pepper

Notes

Use wide noodles for the recipe, they hold the sauce better.
Use pre-cubed ham to take away the minimal prep-time.
