What I’m Wednesday 17

Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week and a bit of my real life outside of the blog.

Doing

So many pumpkin patches. Seriously. Today marked the third pumpkin patch my family has been to this season. We went with my daughter’s preschool on her field trip today. It was the first field trip she’d ever been on so it was a first all around. It was really cute to see her interact with her teachers and friends. And boy did I learn my little Goose is not shy and has quite the active imagination. She eagerly answered questions the farmers were asking even if it meant talking about pink pumpkins.

Beyond seeing her interact with all her friends, it was one of those picture perfect fall days. Bright blue sky, crisp breeze, colorful leaves. It was absolutely perfect taking a leisurely hayride around the farm with my kids both snuggled up on my lap.

Wearing

The fluffiest teddy bear sweater. My sister got me it out of the clear blue and it’s like being wrapped in a warm cloud of goodness. Highly recommend for maximum coziness this fall and winter.

Reading

Looking for my next get lost in novel. I want something light and fun. No heavy reads. Something along the lines of Well Met or any of Sophie Kinsella’s novels. Mind candy, please. I can’t handle Jodi Picoult right now or Kristen Hannah. I’ll take suggestions.

Watching

We had our annual viewing of It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown last night. I love watching all the holiday specials on tv. We make it into a fun night and normally have kid friendly snacks and do a picnic on our couch.

Still watching A Million Little Things. Oh boy. I’m watching the show mainly to watch what happens between John and Katherine at this point. The rest of the characters, even Gary, who I normally love, are seriously on my nerves at the moment. Fingers crossed it gets better.

Working my way through last season’s This is Us. Kate and Toby had the baby. It’s weird, people say the show handled the NICU life well. We beg to differ. We never saw parents in the NICU that were as calm and peaceful as Kate. Toby’s reactions and how freaked out he is were much more in line with our experiences and what we witnessed during our month of NICU time. I have more thoughts on this, but I haven’t really got them together yet. Also, Randall and Beth. What the heck is going on there? Also super annoying.

In cheesy things I’m watching on Netflix, I am currently in the middle of After. Not as fluffly or cheesy as most of my habits. I’ll save my thoughts for when it’s done.

And- I have to mention this- Hallmark Movies started their Christmas programming and the main Hallmark Channel starts theirs on Friday. I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM ON MY DVR! I’ve already watched a few of my favorites.

A Princess for Christmas might have hands down the best zingers of them all. Please consider these lines:

  • “Little Maddie is a TRANS. FAT. JUNKIE.”
  • “You, my dear, are all fur coat and no knickers.”

What? Seriously? A trans fat junkie? The horrors. I wonder what the mean princess would say about my eating habits. LOL forever.

Eating

Currently eating broccoli and quinoa bowls. I don’t have a recipe to share for it- it’s garlic roasted broccoli like in this roasted broccoli and Brussels sprouts pasta and quinoa, olive oil, lemon, and cheese. I might throw on some nuts for crunch.

Yes, I know super healthy, but I had to balance out the amazing mac and cheese recipe I made earlier this week. Patience, friends, that one is coming late next week. But it’s hands down the best homemade mac I’ve ever had. Until then, go try my favorite fall pumpkin mac and cheese.

WAIT- I lie. It’s my favorite homemade mac that isn’t this beer cheese mac and cheese. That recipe is to do for too, but this one is totally different. I promise it’s super delicious. And ridiculously easy. Goose actually put it mostly together and I just supervised.

Drinking

Hello you beautiful sparkling caramel apple screwdrivers you. You are so yummy and delicious and embarrassingly easy to make.

That’s it for me this week! What are you up to? Leave me a comment and let me know!
