What I’m Wednesday 21

Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week and a bit of my real life outside of the blog.

In

Full on Christmas mode. At least with my watching and listening habits. And ok even what I’m wearing and what my kids are wearing. I type this with my Christmas sweatshirt on and thick Christmas socks on my tootsies. I may have purchased my son two Christmas onesies in the last week. I’m not even a little ashamed.

Reading

I’m still reading Again, But Better. I actually hated it until the major twist happened. Last week, I mentioned that I was reading it and generally thought it was slow. I still stand by that statement. It moves really slow and you have to watch the main character make a major mess of her life by not standing up for herself and going after what she wants before the twist happens. Until the twist happens I kind of wanted to grab her by the shoulders and give her a good shake for just not letting herself take up space and go after what she wants. Then the twist that seems so obvious post twist happens and she’s much more likeable so I’m much more invested in her ending.

Wearing

Still wearing SLIPPER SOCKS. I am obsessed with them. Also, am currently on the hunt for a pair of heated socks or slippers. Ideally I’d like them to be soft and cute. I have yet to find them and I’ve scoured Amazon. If you know of any that fit the bill, pass them my way.

Also loving fleece lined leggings. So cozy. It feels like winter came early this year and I need all the warm fuzzy things forever and ever.

Watching

Oh! So many things.

I have gone into full on Christmas mode with my streaming habits. We watched Noelle on Disney Plus this weekend. Yet again, Noelle was another character that I just wanted to take by the shoulders and give a good shake to. And by the end of it, I was really rooting for her to fix things. That said, the movie had lots of things going on it. Morals upon morals. Be true to yourself. Girls can do anything boys can do. Niceness is better than naughtiness. All the themes kind of compete for being front and center until they are all vying for being the theme you must pay attention to at the end of the movie. That said, the movie was in fact entertaining and worth a watch if you have Disney Plus.

Also watched Let It Snow on Netflix. It was like the Gen Z version of Love Actually and so enjoyably cute. I loved the story about the pop star and the small town girl that was sort of at the center of the movie. It had a fairy tale type quality that was so fun.

If you had to pick only one of these movies to watch, I’d definitely go with Let It Snow. Don’t, however, watch it with the kids. Noelle is family friendly though.

Eating

This week has been unexpectedly vegetarian as meat and I are currently on the outs. So I’ve had lots of vegetarian food. I made this vegetable chowder with a few adjustments. Really delicious. And I’ve been eating a ton of buffalo cauliflower and big salads like this one.

Doing

Honestly, just kind of in survival mode right now. The kids were both sick this weekend, and I’m learning how different my children are. When my daughter is sick she just gets droopy and sleepy and lays around the house all day and sleeps a lot. Honestly, other than wanting me to hold her a ton she’s pretty easy when she’s sick. My son, on the other hand, is a totally different beast. He’s a mover and a shaker. And when he’s sick he doesn’t want to stop moving and shaking even though he feels terrible so he gets really cranky. He never wants snuggles and wants to be on the floor to play. However instead of playing happily the way he normally does, he’ll play for a minute and then just lay down and cry. So then I pick him up and he cries. Put him in the crib and he cries. Pick him up and he cries. And then he will fuss to get down and play and the whole cycle starts again. Repeat forever.

That’s it for me this week! What are you up to? Leave me a comment and let me know!
