Mocha Frappuccino

Homemade Mocha Frappuccinos

I never was a coffee drinker until hmmm… about 21 months ago. Something about motherhood has taken my coffee habits from the occasional Starbucks run for a mocha frappuccino or a pumpkin spice latte to OH DEAR GOD HOOK THE COFFEE DIRECTLY TO MY VEINS. From what I understand, this is normal.

I mean it does take roughly the same amount of energy to power New York City for a day as it does to keep up with a toddler for a hot minute. No wonder my need for caffeinated beverages has gone through the roof.

Unfortunately, my budget for Starbucks spending has shrunk instead of rising like my coffee needs. It would probably be a poor life choice to blow the diaper budget on fancy coffee out.

So I drink a lot of coffee at home instead. It took some adjusting on my part but I was able to make the leap. Coffee at home just needs the same amount of doctoring as coffee out for me to drink it. When it’s not pumpkin spice season (I told you I was that girl), my husband makes my morning coffee with tons of cream, sweetener, and a bit of Hershey’s or a shot of Raspberry Simple Syrup for Drinks. It’s pretty yummy. Now that we are midsummer however, hot coffee isn’t always where it’s at. I go into total Starbucks mocha frappuccino withdrawal.

Sweet, milkshake-like, frozen coffee is definitely perfect for my morning pick me up this time of year. It’s quick and easy to make. Plus it’s so much cheaper than a Starbucks mocha frap, which costs roughly $195,000 and a lock of hair from a unicorn.

All you need for this delicious pick me up is a cup of cold coffee (Hello! I’m a mom! My coffee is always cold!), cream or half and half, sweetener, and chocolate syrup. Throw it in a blender with some ice, convince yourself you are making a healthy smoothie, and drink up that sweetness.

I love ice coffee and frappuccinos. I enjoy making homemade ones and saving money even more. Lately, I have been adding fresh fruit in with mine. Strawberries or peaches turn out the best.

OMG these look so good, especially to beat this summer heat!. I know what you mean about the diaper budget, our cloth diapers helps but we still use our disposables and well a Nespresso coffee machine <3

Oh man, we talked about cloth… but I kind of stink at laundry. As in, I put a load in the wash, run it, forget about it, and repeat.
